Our aim

This statement covers blsgroundandgarden.org. We aim for the website to meet theWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2at level AA. We believe it largely does, and we explain below the things we know are not perfect.

What you should be able to do

  • Use the whole site with a keyboard, including the menu, the services list, the photo slideshow, the photo viewer and the forms.
  • Skip straight to the main content with the “Skip to main content” link.
  • Zoom in up to 400% and read pages on small screens without scrolling sideways.
  • See where you are on the page: the item you are on is always clearly outlined and is never hidden behind the header or the contact bar on phones.
  • Read text with good colour contrast against its background.
  • Pause the photo slideshow on the home page. If your device asks for reduced motion, the slideshow does not move on its own and other animations are switched off.
  • Hear a description of each meaningful photo with a screen reader. Every photo added to the site must have a description before it can be published.
  • Fill in forms with clear labels and helpful error messages that explain what to fix.
  • Read the service area as a plain list as well as on the map.

Things we know are not perfect

  • Spam check on the forms. The quote and callback forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to stop spam. It needs JavaScript and is provided by Cloudflare, so we cannot change how it works. Most people never see it, but if it stops you sending a form, please call us on 07902 103783, message us on WhatsApp or emailinfo@blsgroundandgarden.co.uk instead.
  • Customer reviews are shown exactly as the customers wrote them, including any spelling slips.
  • Photos added in future depend on whoever adds them writing a good description. Tell us if you find one that doesn’t help.

How we test the site

Every time the website changes, automated checks run before it is published. They test every page with the axe accessibility checker on desktop and phone screen sizes, check keyboard use of the menu, slideshow, photo viewer and contact bar, check that every image has a description, and check the HTML is valid. A change cannot go live if any of these checks fail. We also check pages with Google Lighthouse.

The website has not yet been audited by an independent accessibility specialist or tested by a panel of disabled users.
